My Favorite Vinaigrette

My Favorite Vinaigrette

In my opinion, there is nothing better than a simple green salad dressed in perfect vinaigrette.  It never ceases to amaze me how something so effortless can be so delicious.

I like to use a mason jar to make this recipe, but you can also use a bowl and whisk.  Your choice, but the mason jar is less clean up!

Simple French Vinaigrette

1/2 cup oil (canola, vegetable, grapeseed or sunflower oil)*

3 T red wine vinegar or raspberry vinegar

3/4 tsp kosher salt

black pepper, freshly ground to taste

1 tsp dijon mustard

1 T honey

1 tsp minced shallot

Add all ingredients into a jar.  Firmly screw on the top and shake vigorously.  Use as a dressing on your favorite salad.  Voila!  It's as simple as that.

*You can use olive oil here as well, but it will change the flavor some as it is not as neutral as the other oils listed.
